Love this place, always had great service, especially Katie, she's my favorite. the food is amazing, fresh made salsa quac and tortillas... the margaritas are the best in town. I normally don't like chain restaurants but this one (at least at this location) is fantastic!

We came here and were not incredibly impressed with the food. The chips tasted like they were cooked in bad oil and my husband's fajitas were burning on the hot skillet. We ordered the black beans and they were very bland. However, my daughter had a great time on her birthday and they made her day when the staff came out of the kitchen to sing to her. She was half way embarrassed and half way excited. She enjoyed her complimentary ice cream. The food was not worth the over 50.00 bill for the four of us, however.

Shani S. is a very good waitress. I'm super critical. The food is it's own style and very good as well. With a family of 5, I was very happy to spend 95$ with a 20% gratuity. I definitely will be back.

Had a good birthday lunch. The mixed grill entree is my favorite and comes with a good amount of food. My waitress was nice and timely. Also you can ask the chef to make sopapias for dessert and I think they should add them back to the menu. I would say a 9 out of 10. Ps stop closing all the Chevy restaurants, I miss the one closer to where I live.

Really very consistent with great food. We order take out constantly and it is always right with plenty of condiments and plastic ware. Our out of towners always request Chevys food at least once while they are here. So good!! Last night we went with our family. After a few tables around us were seated after us but had service we went up to ask about our server. We have little kids and just wanted to make sure no one forgot us. There was a miscommunication obvi bc their service is typically very fast. The manager immediately apologized and took our order. Later he comped out app (which we didn't ask for and was over and above). It just feels good to see a place that always puts the customer experience first !!! Also my daughter loved watching the woman making tortillas. She also gave her a fresh one to eat. Chevys never lets you down!!

Went here on Sunday morning and the food was great, the service was great as well! I had the rice and some of the nachos and it was really good, the happy hour menu looked dank so I hope that next time I am in town I am able to go there for happy hour!

Bad service on Saturday night, never got water, never got silverware, never got napkins. They can redeem themselves I will come here again but the service should be a lot better. The food is good. I wish they would replace the table mats though they are gross and seem to be holding some type of bacteria. This visit Waac not good for our family this time.

We weren't quite sure what to expect going into Chevy's, as this was our first time visiting. We were greeted and seated right away. We had the most AMAZING service I have ever received while visiting a restaurant. Our waitress was, happy and friendly and very speedy with our needs of extra items and to go boxes. I wish I could remember her name. I had the fajita taco salad with no meat, and my boyfriend had enchiladas. I was full from the chips and salsa before I got my food. We had also ordered the chile con queso appetizer, and oh my lanta, that was the best dip I have ever had. The flavors are a mouthgasm. Definitely a must stop for i5

We came for the chips! I should stop there! The food and service was very much below average. The chips and salsa were great! If you need more prepare to wait. Since we were only 1 out of 5 tables being served we should have never had to wait. Instead we were waiting forever for water refills, food and the one thing they do better than most CHIPS! Note: Our visit took place on 5/16/15. After I wrote this review, Chevys reached out to me with concern to learn how they can correct the problem at this location. I gave them constructive feedback and they sent me 2 cards entitling us to 2 free entrees. This not only showed they are corporately responsible but also Yelp is far reaching. Good job Chevys! I have much more respect for you as a company and your chips are still very good.

Always a good experience at Chevy's. There food is always consistent, a good variety & great Margaritas. Seasonal margaritas are the best.Better Margaritas than most Mexican restaurants. I posted a picture of fresh Watermelon margarita. Staff is always friendly. Never seems to be real busy, Expect Tex Mex style Mexican Food, Tamalito side is delicious. Great kids menu &U have to try there deep fried ice cream. Overall always good experience.

There are still Chevys in the SF Bay Area, but their numbers have dwindled. This one on the Lake Oswego/Tigard border still proudly flies the "Fresh Mex" flag and with a crowded dining room to prove it. My Son and I were staying at the Phoenix Inn next door (and across the parking lot) and this is where the Kid wanted to have dinner on Friday night. I was hoping to drive over to the Thirsty Lion to also watch the Trail Blazers/Rockets game, but I was out pleaded by a "starving" teenager who couldn't wait. I thought that the food was somewhat better than "A OK", and that the service was quick, friendly, and honest, even on a busy night. That's worth a upwards rating bump any day. I was "stuffed" on just the chips and an appetizer, while my Son used his love for "fresh guac" to devour 3 bowls of chips and whatever he ordered as a main course. Hence, Chevy's is also the perfect place for my young man with a hollow leg. Finally, I forgot my glasses here and they were waiting for me with a smile when I returned the next evening. The day-lighted creek running through the property is also pretty cool.

Friendly service and good quantity/quality of food make a good visit. This was my second time visiting this Chevy's. I found Chevys mexican food quite good compared to those in Bellingham and Vancouver. The flavour is just better. Servers are also very friendly. Would go there again next time I'm back in Oregon.

I've taken my kids twice to this location for lunch and both times the food was average for a chain restaurant. My kids love going here, especially my youngest who likes to play with the home made playdough they give to the young kids. I ordered the chicken burrito for lunch and both times it was good. The extra charge for guacamole and sour cream should go away but it seems like most restaurants charge more for these condiments. The food gets three stars. The four stars is for our server, she was the best!

Chevys is one of those places that have particular good menu items, while the rest falls a bit flat. Things that are GOOD: their sweet corn tomalito (spelling?) is fantastic and easily the best part of the meal. Their chips and salsa are remarkable as well. Salsa is freshly made, and the chips were perfectly warm, crisp, light, and faintly salty. If you order guac, they make it fresh table-side. Steer clear of: any of their shredded chicken items. Flat out, it was unappetizing...dry and bland. That goes for the chicken quesadillas, nachos, flautos, etc. Our service was great, so that's a plus.

  • Scott W.

Horrible. The food was bland, the atmosphere awful and loud. This particular Chevy's is like walking into a bad mexican party where everything from the dishes to the tables are cheap and uninspiring. I give this Chevy's two stars only because the server was awesome and the desert was really good - one star for each. Aside from those two items I believe this place is just one small step above a Taco Bell.

  • Trent M.

Ordered the steak quesadilla, not a huge portion size for the price. The restaurant was empty, but we still sat at the table with empty glasses and empty chip baskets. I don't think I'd come back since there are other Mexican restaurants that are more worthwhile.

  • Kirk T.

There are so many more examples of better "Mex" out there. This is not of course where you go for authenticity, but where you go to relive the memories of Chevy's gone by. Sadly, I believe that the franchise has outlived it's stay, and by our experience it is probably founded. Greasy, oily chips, service bland, food unimpressive. It may be best that you just remember your last enjoyable meal here, instead of ruining your overall perspective of Chevy's. This patron will seek "Fresh-Mex" elsewhere.

What an amazing location! Jared seated us and waited on our table, and he was incredibly friendly. We were impressed. The food, drinks, and service were all GREAT. If I were to return to the area, I would not hesitate to visit this restaurant again. Thanks for the pleasurable 4th of July lunch.

Stopped off here for a later lunch whilst traveling to Portland on the Fourth of July. We've been to plenty of Chevys restaurants before, and this location is definitely a hidden gem. It definitely went above our expectations. The quality of food and service was very good. The 3 of us all ordered our usual chicken fajitas and they tasted better than at our hometown location. The food and drinks were out quickly. Our server, Jared, was very energetic, funny, and overall excellent.

I'v been to a few Chevy's in my time. This was not one of my better experiences. It took a while to get seated because there was only one hostess (lots of empty tables). No other employee who walked past us was willing/able to seat one of the 3 parties waiting. I got a combo platter, my wife got a burrito, we both had margaritas. My wife's food came out cold and my "jumbo" margarita was served at least an inch below the top of the glass. (Oh and they were $11 a piece...) I have never heard my wife say anything negative when a server has checked on us. This night she mentioned that everything tasted great but it came out cold. We were hungry and had a cranky baby with us so we chose to eat it rather then send it back. In a surprise effort, the manager comped all of our food. A great gesture which is what the second and third star are for.

Not the Chevys I remember loving back in my SoCal days :/ I came here for lunch during the week and the food was good, but heavy...the kind where you just want to nap afterwards. I had the burrito lunch special with salsa chicken, rice, and beans ($10). Generous portions and I like how they give you options to customize the burrito. The chicken was tender and flavorful. Chips and salsa were also tasty, although the chips too thin for my liking. Charro beans were disappointing, reminded me of chili. Service was great, with orders, food, and bill all taken care of quickly. The server was surprisingly knowledgable about the menu, knowing how many chips are in the (individually layered) fajita nacho appetizer and the difference in ounces in meat between and lunch and dinner fajitas. There are a few areas that seem to make his restaurant a little rough around the edges. When I first walked in, I immediately noticed how dark it seemed inside, with a lack of natural light. The host seated us at the bar area, which wasn't an issue but I think weird to seat someone in (without asking) when there's plenty of room in the main dining area. Up charge for a small bowl of cheese to go with fajitas. Tortillas served in a paper bag like a to go cookie. They scoop the chips and salsa out in the open in what what reminds me of scooping popcorn out of a trash can (no other way to describe it). Maybe not the best place for a romantic night out or trying to impress someone. Good for a quick lunch though!

Been to Chevy's a couple of times and it seems like a run of the mill Mexican food chain. I will give them props on there happy hour, which is from 2-8p. $3 ritas and wine is dirt cheap! The food was okay. Was enjoying my nachos until my friend, who also ordered nachos, found some hair in his food. Yuck! I might go back for some cheap drinks. Will probably have to pass up on the food tho.

This is a fun, casual place that's good for an array of occasions: workday lunches, meeting catering, happy hour and birthdays. Oh yeah, the Chevy's sombrero on your birthday. Can't beat that! The food is very plentiful, tastes fresh. Especially the tortillas, made while you watch. The flautas are crunchy, savory flakes of heaven with a sweet-spicy sauce. So many sensations! The fajitas easily feed me for dinner and lunch the next day. The only thing I'm not too big a fan of are the chips. Too thin for my liking. That's my only qualm, however. Everything else I've tried is delicious. I've had good experiences with all the servers and management in this restaurant. The managers helped me cater many work events, and the waitstaff is very nice whenever I come in to eat on my own. Definitely a nice spot for just having an enjoyable Tex Mex-style dinner.

This place is pretty dang close to my work so when a drink is needed, this always pops to mind. Mostly because the happy hour is AMAZING - $3 for margaritas (or an additional .50 for the seasonal fruit one) and appetizers that are cheap and huge. I've gotten out of there with 3 drinks and food under my bed for about $12 bucks. And the food is pretty tasty too! Service is hit or miss, but during happy hour, I don't really care. I've also been here for dinner, which isn't as cheap, but still pretty tasty. I've gotten the guacamole they make at the table for you....freakin' delicious. I do really like their margaritas...while not as strong as some of the more...authentic, I guess woule be the word, places, it's still pretty tasty.

I won't recite a litany of its sins, but on my latest visit it failed on every level. We had a large party and everyone I talked to during and after the meal either felt ill or didn't like the taste of their food. My fish tacos with tilapia were practically inedible. And since it was a working lunch we didn't have any margaritas to help improve the experience. The reason for two stars... I'm always smitten with the sweet corn tamalito that comes with your meal, and I've enjoyed the fresh tortillas and margaritas I've had here in the past. Otherwise, no. Just no.

most people know this place does not have real Mexican food and is a chain so i don't really wanna kill them for that but man is their food bad. first the chips are stale and the salsa has real no flavor to it and is very watery. i ordered the fish tacos... rice and beans tasted old and had no flavor at all. the fish had that freezer taste to them. only ok thing on the plate was the corn the reason i gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is the drinks. they do make some good mixed drinks. maybe they make strong drinks so the crappy food taste good lol but like i said before I'm not trying to kill Chevys. when you go to a place like this you should know your not getting great food. last time i was there was maybe a year ago and the food was not that good also so i just gotta stay away from here

  • Simi P.

Okay so let me start by saying that the food was pretty damn good. We ordered in for our bi-weekly company lunch and had the following items: Beef and Chicken Tacos Tamales (W/ some crazy awesome chili dip thing) Variety Appetizer Plate Corn Mush (Mmmmmm Mush) Chips and Salsa Salsa was great, though I remember the chips being a little more kick ass than they were this time around. I'm in love with their tamales, and they're incredibly easy to reheat. The corn mush stuff (so technical!) is mushy heaven in your mouth - no joke. The tacos weren't terrible, but they weren't anything phenomenal either... I can make much better tacos at home for far less money. The only thing I had off the appetizer plate were the buffalo wings... while not something I would generally expect from a Mexican or Tex Mex restaurant, they were pretty damn tasty. Now, onto the bad. Chevy's uses a third party service for their catering and its AWFUL. When I initially called in the order the woman on the phone told me she needed to call the location to see if they delivered and that she would call me back before the day was over. I had to call her back FOUR DAYS LATER to get verification. She said she forgot and then swore to call me back ASAP... which she did. They refused at first to send me an invoice so that I could pass it along to our accounting team. She called me back two days later saying that she could email the invoice to me but needed my email address - and the physical address of the office - since she lost it somehow. I never received the emailed invoice. When the food was dropped off I asked the gentleman who delivered for this mysterious invoice. He said it was in his car and seemed incredibly put out that I wanted it. He came up and said, 'I don't see why you need this, there isn't even an invoice number on it.' Ummm how b\about to cover my ass for the amount ordered and since no one ever gave me a finalized total. Also - this order was over 100.00 and you don't see a reason to ask for a signature? Good to know. The food overall was great, but I don't know if I'm willing to have the cater again, that third company party is just too much of a pain in my rear. Hey Chevys - get your shit together and find better catering representation! The one you have right now is killing your reputation.

Used to love this place. Last night .......Every entree we were served was Luke warm. Apparently the waiter did not notice that our plates were practically untouched when he took them away. The manager was talking to the table behind us...they were complaining....he walked by us without a glance.

We always enjoy the food which is very tasty and the décor of Chevy's is pleasant. The (Large Sample Combo Plate Super 5) is a good value for about 15 bucks & it comes with endless chips and salsa. the portions are large enough to take leftovers home! we like to request Shelly as our waitress, she is always so nice and cheerful! We will be back with our friends. PS. we like the fact that "NO LARD" is used in the cooking which makes it healthy. See you soon Chevy's :)

okay met my mom out here for lunch. We were craving Mexican...... we should have gone to taco bell...... yes people I know taco bell is not mexican...... but this place was worse than Taco Bell..... My mother and I did not finish our meals, we did not take our leftovers, we were both sick to our stomach when we left. We were both sick the next day as well. The wait staff had to be chased down for anything like water or napkins. Oh and it was right before the lunch rush..... they were NOT busy. My food was actually cold in the middle, and luke warm on the outside. My mothers meal was barely warm. By the time we actually got the waiters attention and told him that our plates were not warm at all....... he looked like he would rather be anywhere else than at work. so we paid our bill and vowed to never go back. .......ever.....

so far no so good. waited 10-15 mins before we saw anyone at our table took drink and dinner orders at the same time because they were so slow. chips and salsa didn't come for about 20 mins. so service sucks. I know it's kids eat free Tuesday, I didn't bring kids. maybe they didn't care about my tip. just saying, service is 80% of the meal. if it sucks. the food doesn't taste good

As unimpressed I have been in recent years with Chevy's food I was definitely pleased with their catering and staff yesterday. We had a group of about 60 of us and they were more than accomodating. Plenty of chips and salsa were continually replenished. Staff was super friendly and were good about bringing drinks (we do love our giant margaritas) consistantly. The food: Black & refried beans Salad Chicken/Steak fajita mix (this was quite tasty) Grilled fish/shrimp - did not try this Rice Corn mush - not sure what they call this but it's always my fave Beef enchiladas - quite flavorful Condiments Everything was actually really good. They had good tortillas and was quite pleased with the flavor of everything. Overall great and has redeemed my faith in this restaurant!

Drinks are horrible. The Margaritas are a pre mix with the freeze dried type ice that is gritty on your tongue, gross! They use a jigger to pour only 1/4 to 1/2oz shots, 1/4 for a rocks glass and 1/2 for a large glass, serious waste of money. My work group came, but we will never come again for happy hour. The food was horrible, nothing freshly made, canned, frozen, or freeze dried.

We went to celebrate our anniversary. We waited about 7 min before we were greeted. The the hostess dropped the dough ball with crayons on the floor and didn't get new for our child. They were short staffed and still quite busy they had apparently sent the bus boy home as all the tables around us stayed dirty with dishes on them although people were leaving as we were seated. We received chips and salsa our absolute favorite- something tasted off or like they changed the recipe. Not thinking it could be bad we are it- The mixed grill combo was good but the chicken didn't really taste like chicken my husband thought it was fish- pretty bad- So, I'm not sure if our server ever washed his hands after handling dirty dishes or other people's credit cards/cash. Today I have food poisoning- seriously- my kids luckily have only had diarrhea- we the entire family was fine yesterday no issues. We wake up today and all have the runs and only I with cramps. I did have to work know I am not- thanks Chevy's!

The food was great as usual. However the ketchup served with kids meal was small in quantity. Same goes for salsa that comes with chips. Chicken flatua were awesome, so also chicken bowl lunch. Now the bad: A fly buzzed around our table even though we were inside:(

I have been here few times, I like this location better than the others and I have to say the salsa here is incomparable, I have not been able to find another Mexican or American-Mex restaurant in the area where salsa is so good. It is the Chipotle flavor they add that makes it so unique i think, I am not sure. Service is excellent and they always refill the Salsa and chips very efficiently. Parking can be tight at this one, especially in the weekend. Their margaritas especially the Cadillac Maragarita, are worth the trip, in flavor and very generous portion.. Prices are good too. My favorite ones from the menu are the seafood and shrimp dishes, especially the enchiladas with green sauce, delicious! Happy hours menu is great too and good prices

Oh, so disappointed on a trip here. Met up with family for lunch. Sad to say, there really isn't much of a lunch menu, you basically get to pick off the regular, starting to get high priced for what you get main menu. I decided to try the tortilla soup. What a mistake. kind of a slightly flavored broth with some tortilla strips in it and a bit of avocado and some type of cheese. Really disappointed in it. Will never waste my money on that again. The service wasn't great either. And they really weren't that busy. Will still go to my normal location, as my wife has a certain favorite dish, but this location. Not going to happen. Very small parking lot at this location and can be difficult to get out of.

Americanized texmex not even. A good texmex could have smokey, peppery flavors with hearty ground corn, no not here....here chips supposedly homemade but so thin they are too brittle to hold the salsa, which is almost a pico but more of a watery finely chopped pico with little flavor and no heat. Starter was bacon wrapped shrimp that tasted like bacon. No suprises there but nothing to write home about. Mesquite grilled chicken tacos were small chopped chunks of dry chicken specifically NOT grilled over mesquite but more fried in a skillet. This was served in a cold, tasteless flour tortillia definately not fresh or homemade. Not even warmed on flat iron. Tacos served with red cabbage....weird. At least the cheese was traditional crumble cheese. Not a sprig of cilantro to be found. Stuffed pepper had a sharp metallic taste we didn't eat after he first taste. Carnitas in the enchilada were well spiced but very over cooked and mushy...I just envision a huge pot of them cooking down to mush in the back. Steak tacos were dry tough over cooked chunks of god knows what cut totally defied the $13 for two tacos cost. Beans and rice had better flavor than the main dishes. Best part of the meal was a tiny scoop of cracked, boiled corn, sweetened with a little sugar. I could have had that and left and been happier. I would have rather paid the fifty dollar bill and not eaten. At least I would not have this greasy nasty taste in my mouth. The ice water I had was pretty good.

Unbelievably bad service. Mediocre food. Good chips and salsa. The staff seems overwhelmed with a half empty restaurant.

I have been a Chevy's fan for 20 years. No longer. I ordered take out and when I got home - 5 minutes later, the food was cold, undercooked, spiced horribly and the tortillas were one big blob of flour. When I spoke with the manager, Jeff, about it he was completely unconcerned and uncaring. He said the words "I'm sorry about that. Hope to see you soon." He sounded bored. I won't waste my money there again.

Very tasty for a chain restaurant. I arrived this afternoon and was glad to be seated on the patio. I was promptly served water and chips by "John" who asked me if I wanted to wait for the other half of my party or not. I elected to order a drink and wait. My friend got their shortly afterwards and he promptly took her order as well. He recommended some starters for us and they were on the money. He gave us happy hour prices on the patio which was previously only offered indoors. Very nice and very good service. I'll be back for happy hour in the future.

So I grew up eating Chevys. I was so excited to find one after moving from the south to here. We went for my birthday lunch there. It was awful. It's not the fun, fresh Chevys I remember. The food has gone downhill. You can tell it was made fresh. We got there right as they opened for lunch and there were only 3 other tables filled. With that said, our waitress forgot about us several time, didn't get any drinks at first took forever to come take our order, then as we waited for her to bring us our check when she saw we were done.....it took her 20 min to come back with it. What the hell was she doing back there anyway, because it wasn't busy at all. Let down and never going back again. I've had better Taco Bell.

Despite the negative reviews of this location and my general disapproval of this type of Americanized food, I gave Chevy's a try. I had a coupon that allowed my husband and me to buy one meal and get the second for $3. We shared a table-side guacamole and each ordered one of those combo platters with way too much food so we could eat leftovers for a few meals. I did not like the green salsa that came over the tamale, but loved the masa. My husband hated the dark red, mole-type salsa that was over one of the enchiladas. We both loved the taco and corn tomatillo. Was the food fantastic? No. Was it good? For the most part, yes. Would I ever go back? Probably (especially if I get another coupon).

  • Mary P.

So gross. Their homemade salsa tasted super burnt. I ordered a combo plate which consisted of one cheese enchilada and two small flautas...for $10.50. For one scoop of guacamole it was $2.95. Definitely not worth what you get. I'll never eat here again; I'd rather go to Taco Bell.

Stop! Unless your drinking beer and margarita's, avoid this place at all cost. I ordered the Mix grilled Fajitas and only wanted Chicken. The total plate is about a pound of meat and when they brought me mine I had about 1/3 a pound of Chicken and they said that was all they could give me. Then the Chicken was so dry it should have been called Jerky. Oh and they have NO Queso here either, but yet they call themselves a "Mexican Restaurant" Overpriced and awful quality and service has NO concern for you as a customer. People of Portland...you deserve better!

My favorite "Chain" restaurant. My family and I rarely go chain, but when we do its for Chevy's. They make there food on site, no cans of salsa on shelves in the back, in fact they roast their veggies for the salsa every morning (my daughters class had a field trip to Chevy's and we saw the veggies on the grill) You can often see them making tortillas when you walk int the door. Fresh food and great service (usually).

I ate at the Lake oswego restaurant with my wife on 9/12/14. We both had a steak burrito with rice and beans. About 45 min after leaving the restaurant I began feeling very ill. I pulled over and threw up on the side of the road. The vomiting was so intense that I burst a bunch of capillaries around my eyes. It looked like I had been punched in both eyes. My wife told me she was not feeling so well either. I immediately called and asked for a manager who took some info from me and sad he was sorry that the food made me sick. I expected to at least receive some follow up but I did not so I called again and spoke with a manager on 9/14/14. This time the manager was rude and seemed a little hostile telling me they sold a couple hundred orders of what I had that day and that no one else was complaining. I informed him that I was not happy with the way my situation was being handled and that I would like my money back and that I would no longer be doing businesses with them. He told me I will open an investigation into this. He also told me I would here from tina or tonya not sure which name it was on Monday I finally heard from her on Wednesday 9/17/14. She told me the same story about selling over 150 orders of what I had and that they had no other issues or else they would be taking it more seriously. She told me that she was not willing to refund me the cost of my meal and that they were done dealing with it. This was my first and last time eating at Chevy's the food was not even good. I would rate it edible at best. The server was polite and quick . But I wouldn't recommend eating here or paying for there high priced low quality tasting food.

Typical of a chain restaurant. Service was fair, food was fresh and flavorful. However, fajita plates were too hot, burning the food, sizzling hot oil on my arm. Used dishes were not removed from the table. Waiter did not repeat our order and got mine completely wrong! I ordered steak quesadilla and was served steak fajita ! Restaurant deco needs some freshening up. Paint, tables and chairs were not clean enough.

BEST tasting chips ever. Chevy's has been my long time favorite when you're craving fresh chips and salsa. Nothing beats these homemade chips. At this particular location, they had awesome customer service (maybe it was because I was the loner eating by myself with my ipad) and as always just "ok" mex food. I had the tortilla soup which came in the lowest bowl ever you would think its for beans instead of soup. Tasty soup but it quickly got soaked up by abnormal amount of tortilla strips. Who likes to eat soggy chips?!! The chicken and jack cheese quesadilla was not bad, but you really can't go wrong there. Nevertheless, Chevy's will get a 4 star from me b/c of their CHIPS!! =)

Kudos for the mean martini these guys make and double kudos to our server who didn't give me crap for ordering a martini in a place that obviously specializes in margaritas. And for making sure that martini glass stayed at an acceptable level. For a chain, this place isn't bad. And for me, who isn't an instant lover of Mexican food, I can always find something to eat here. My last visit I enjoyed the crab and shrimp enchildas. Ate every bite. That's saying a lot. Our server was very friendly and accomodating to our group. Happy hour deals are great, though it is definitely of the fried food variety. Quick tip: Don't park in the parking lot across the street as it is regularly patrolled and you will be towed. Park here and go big or go home.

That's right, i'm writing a review for a chain restaurant. Not my usual scene but hell, the hubby loves the steak fajitas and chevy's ALWAYS has coupons. They have done a great deal to rebrand and I admire them for improving both the menu's and service here. More than anything I am grateful that they did not do away with margarita Wednesday, which is one of my favorite days of the week.

Seriously, I could drink their salsa. It's that good. I think it's the roasted pepper flavor that makes it my favorite, over any other Mexican restaurant in town. However; their happy hour margarita's come a close second. Last night, the seasonal fruit was kiwi. I ordered that. Besides the ice-cream headache I got for slurping it down to fast, it was amazing! My co-workers are creatures of habit and always get the strawberry/raspberry combo margarita. Last night raspberry's were either out of season or too pricey, because that wasn't an option. Not that anyone really cared that much. Yummy fruit is yummy fruit - and once out of their boxes, they realized they liked the mango. As for the happy hour, it's the best on that side of Lake Oswego as far as I'm concerned. The fluta's are to die for! The nacho is gigantic! I don't normally like hot wings because I don't like hot wing sauce - but Chevy's uses a sweet and spicy sauce that tastes more like a hoisin glaze. The restaurant itself is huge and has that that typical bright colored Mexican themed decor. The bar is well sized too - but fills up really fast because of the surrounding hotels and out of town business people. The only downside would be that they don't have happy hour on Cinco De Mayo - which would seem an obvious day to go. I guess management caught on to that as well and can double up on their sales that day. We go here all the time - and I've never left disappointed, except in the sense that I have eaten waaaaay too much!

Normally I'm not a fan of the chain restaurants that are trying to be something they're not. In Chevy's case, it looks like it's trying to be an old-school taqueria somewhere in California or the Southwest with the decor. But the food is really good, and that's what I'm judging. I like to go to this Chevy's for the happy hour. For a few bucks you can get some decent tapas-style food and a beer...can't beat that with a stick. The only drawback is both Chevy's and the surrounding area can get really crowded around happy hour time. Parking in the surrounding lots, let alone seating in the restaurant and bar, can be hard to find at peak times. But in a way that's a testament to the good value one can find there. The service has always been great, and this is one of my favorite happy hour joints.

Ultimately, I blame myself for deciding to go here. I have lived in the area for over four years, and was apparently doing the right thing by skipping Chevy's, until last night. While the margarita held up to average standards, even above average, and the server was friendly, the food and atmosphere were beyond awful. For starters, the food tasted as if it had been soaked in sugar before being heated in the microwave. There was not a touch of spicy in the enchiladas or taco that I got as a combination. The beans and rice were very dry - like only a microwave could make them. The atmosphere sent me back in time to the memory of a cross country bus trip that I took many years ago - specifically to the Cleveland, OH bus station. That's the only way to describe it. The bathroom was dive bar chic - as in it hadn't been cleaned since Elian Gonzalez was living in Miami. The table cloth, eight layers of plastic, had a film on it - likely the result of being wiped down over the years with a floor mop. I would have felt more at ease in a beach chair in the drive through lane at Taco Bell - and would have been more impressed with the food. When the server asked us if we wanted to-go boxes, we politely declined. Then she gave us some sort of scratch ticket that we couldn't scratch, but rather had to wait until our next visit, when the manager would scratch it for us and reveal our prize. Who the hell thought up that promotion?! While not a person that plays scratch tickets, I'd imagine that half of the fun is actually scratching the card AND having to come back to see what you won?! No thanks! I'll pass. To note, when I scratched it myself, I won another serving of the meal that I just had. Imagine having to go through that twice!

Cheap product, overpriced. Server was condescending and called me "princess". I was even more appalled when she spelled the martini she was serving my friend on my boyfriend. I'd almost swear she was rather drunk.

Bar staff was horrible; very rude and not nice. Our waiter, Crystal, was great. She brought the drinks fast. So far it's been great. Well, our overall experience was pretty good. The food was good and consistent in taste but go somewhere else.

Chevy's is OFF the list! It was terrible! The guacamole was bad, the meat disgusting, cheese enchilada with tomatillo sauce- awful. The margarita was ok, chips and salsa- ok. That's about it. I'll never go back. This was the last chance. We have had other bad experiences there but gave it another shot. The sweet corn is tummy but not nearly enough to cover chevy's multitude of sins.

We LOVE Chevy's Fresh Mex restaurants, and this one is one of the best. We stop here every time we are coming through Portland. The fajita nachos are my husband's favorite - each chip is individually layered with beans, steak (or chicken, if you're into that) and cheese. I have a bunch of food allergies, so I order the steak fajitas. I skip the tortillas (unfortunately - they are AMAZINGLY good, but I can't have flour...) and the kitchen helps me out by leaving off the sauces and wiping down the grill before they cook my steak. Even without the sauces, the steak fajitas are awesome. But our favorite part is the chips and salsa. They make *the* best, fresh chips and salsa, delivered hot to your table. Their guac is amazing, too. If we didn't live so far away, we'd be there at least a couple nights a week!

parking was TIGHT. but 3-7 pm happy hour with $3 fruity margaritas and $3 apps is nothing to scoff at. our waitress (in the "cantina") was so efficient and unobtrusive (chains are kind of ridiculous on that point, i understand why, but still) that we were kind-of in awe. totally decent food for a cheap night out.

I ate at the Lake oswego restaurant with my wife on 9/12/14. We both had a steak burrito with rice and beans. About 45 min after leaving the restaurant I began feeling very ill.

Nice-ish food. Busy atmosphere. Definitely a chain. Would consider coming here again, but I'd want to wait a while.

  • Sela S.

Ordered the steak quesadilla, not a huge portion size for the price. The restaurant was empty, but we still sat at the table with empty glasses and empty chip baskets. I don't think I'd come back since there are other Mexican restaurants that are more worthwhile.

Love this place, always had great service, especially Katie, she's my favorite. the food is amazing, fresh made salsa quac and tortillas... the margaritas are the best in town. I normally don't like chain restaurants but this one (at least at this location) is fantastic!

The food was great as usual. However the ketchup served with kids meal was small in quantity. Same goes for salsa that comes with chips. Chicken flatua were awesome, so also chicken bowl lunch. Now the bad: A fly buzzed around our table even though we were inside:(

Shani S. is a very good waitress. I'm super critical. The food is it's own style and very good as well. With a family of 5, I was very happy to spend 95$ with a 20% gratuity. I definitely will be back.

  • Justin M.

My most favorite thing about Chevys is there Tortias and chips and salsa. Often we will get these to go and make our our Mexican food.

  • Mike K.

Just OK. They're expensive and the food is not stellar. It's always loud here, and the balance of table chatter and bad music is not a good one. I struggled to find anything on the menu that sounded even the least bit appetizing. Our waitress was nothing special either. My son did love that they gave him a little ball of salt dough to play with, and he couldn't put it down. I will be sure to speak up in protest, the next time my husband suggests dining here.

Ordered the steak quesadilla, not a huge portion size for the price. The restaurant was empty, but we still sat at the table with empty glasses and empty chip baskets. I don't think I'd come back since there are other Mexican restaurants that are more worthwhile.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
